My mother gave me my first set of water paints when I was 18 months old. I loved watching the colors mix and flood the paper. My grandmother and my mother were incredible artists and in my mind I believed EVERYONE was an artist! (Something I STILL believe!) As I got older, this love never faded and throughout school I won several awards for my artwork. Eventually I went on to get a degree in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Seattle. Since then I have spent years studying color and working in many different mediums.
While I do a lot of work in oils, I also love to work in watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, sculpture and photography. Each has its own unique expression depending on the subject.
My inspiration is my faith in Jesus as the Creator of all things, who displays His mysteries in all of His creation.
Psalm 19 says,
"The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world."
Romans 1:20 says,
“For since the creation of the world, His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made”
In each piece I create, I seek to bring the viewer along on my journey to seek out the mysteries of God.
